HELLO HOOMAN, I’M Dachshund

I am a Dachshund; you might know me by Wiener Dog or Sausage Dog, or maybe Doxie. I am a versatile dog breed with a knack for being an excellent family companion, a show dog, as well as a small-game hunter. However, I am a hound dog at heart, typically bred to hunt animals, including badgers, rabbits, and foxes, among other animals

MORE ABOUT ME

PERSONALITY AND TEMPERMANT

It is easy to get fooled by this breed’s cute appearance and goofy personality, but the dachshund was initially bred to be a fierce hunter. It was used by the owner to flush out the prey from dens. Nevertheless, nowadays, the dachshund is more of a lap dog, but it still has the braveness and spunk from old times. Likewise, it retains its digging and burrowing habits. Hence, it is common for owners to find this breed digging holes in the backyard or burrowing into blankets in bed.

CHARACTERISTICS

Usually, the dachshund is an intelligent dog breed; at the same time, it can be independent to the point of stubbornness. Nevertheless, the Dachshunds have a reputation for being a brave and entertaining dog breed. Additionally, the dachshund is well suited for apartment living, but it does have a tendency to bark and howl.

Furthermore, the dachshund is good with children as well as towards other dogs. However, the same is not valid for strangers.

Dachshunds are generally available in two sizes- Standard and miniatures. The standard can be 16 to 32 heavy, while the miniature is likely to weigh 11 pounds and under.

ENERGY LEVEL

Dachshund is a breed full of stamina and energy with a love for walks or plays outdoors. Plus, it is also very active inside the house. Still, it can do well in small quarters, provided it is getting enough exercise daily.

PHYSICAL

It is a common notion among people that dachshund being a small dog breed, doesn’t require a lot of exercises. However, this breed does require regular exercising to reaming healthy both mentally and physically. Specifically, two walks every day of moderate length must be sufficient.
