HELLO HOOMAN, I’M Border Collie

I am Border Collie, renowned. I was originally bred in Scotland and England to gather and control sheep. After all, I have an intense stare or “eye” that keeps the flocks in line. Moreover, I am a dog with unlimited stamina, working drive. Hence, it is no surprise that I am one of the leading herding dogs. And I am still used by people to herd sheep on farms across the world.

PERSONALITY AND TEMPERMANT

The perfect word to describe the Border Collie is a dynamo. This breed is a quick learner. In fact, it learns so quickly that sometimes it gets difficult to challenge this breed. Besides being intelligent, the Border Collie is characteristically energetic, smart, and hardworking. All-in-all, this breed thrives on work, but it also means that it needs to be bust. As a matter of fact, it is necessary to keep the Border Collie busy; otherwise, it will become bored. When that happens, it will become annoying and will start chasing cars, barking, and digging.

Furthermore, the Border Collie can be strong-minded and independent. On top of that, its herding nature can sometimes be misdirecting. Plus, when it is not doing some kind of job, this breed might chase cars, pets, and children.

CHARACTERISTICS

The Border Collie is not a dog breed for apartment living. Moreover, it cannot tolerate being alone and is quite sensitive. However, it can endure both hold and cold seasons well. Usually, this breed is affectionate towards kids, friendly towards other dogs and strangers.

Further, the Border Collie can shed, and it is somewhat difficult to groom this breed. And it is straightforward to train the Collie as it is a quick learner.

As for sizes, the male Border Collie, on an average, can have a height up to 19-22 inches, while the female can be 18-21 inches tall. Plus, the weight of the male lies between 30-45 pounds, and the female can weigh around 27-42 pounds.

ENERGY LEVEL

As earlier discussed, the Border Collie is a dynamo. It is a high drive, extremely energetic dog breed with daily exercise needs. And walk around a block is not enough to tire out this dog breed. Additionally, if Border Collie is not involved in a job, be prepared for some vigorous exercise every day.
