I am a Bloodhound, initially created for trailing deer and boar in medieval France. I have a strong sense of smell, which is why I am an essential part of law enforcement and search and rescue. On top of that, I am intelligent and highly active. Even though I have various traits to like, but most people fall in love with my sweet nature and unique appearance.
Bloodhound is a noble, mild-mannered, and noble dog breed. However, under its mild-mannered attitude, lies a being with potent seeds of determination and independence. A bloodhound is more likely to make his own decisions, instead of following its master’s commands. This trait of Bloodhound becomes much more visual when it is following an interesting smell. In fact, it that happens, it will become single-minded and follow the trail as far as possible. Once the Bloodhound finishes the course and finds someone at the other end, it is likely to plant wet, slobbery kisses all over them.
Furthermore, Bloodhound is good with children and is renowned for showing exceptional patient towards tots. At the same time, it can be stubborn and independent, so training this breed requires consistency, patience, and skills. Moreover, this breed gets along well with other animals.
The Bloodhound is not particularly good at living in an apartment. On the contrary, it needs large spacious places. Further, a Bloodhound is likely to howl and bark. In fact, it can make several melodiously excellent sounds, including howling, whining, and more. However, the neighbors might not like this.
Typically, the Bloodhound is a large, substantial dog weighing up to 110 pounds and standing 23 to 27 inches tall.
The looks of a Bloodhound can be deceptive, and people often take it as a lazy dog. However, the truth is, Bloodhound was bred to follow trails for hours. Hence, it is full of energy and requires daily exercise.
The Bloodhound will benefit from regular long walks. But never without a leash, as this breed has a tendency of not responding to the commands, particularly when it has found a scent to follow.
