I am a Beagle, a small and compact dog. Being a hound, I can be stubborn at times, and patience is required to handle me. Plus, normal training techniques won’t work on me; you have to be creative. However, nothing stops me from being an active companion for humans. The most notable feature about me is my nose. I am never happier than when I am following an exciting smell. As a matter of fact, I live my whole life through my nose.
Usually, Beagle is an even-tempered dog breed. It other words, it is neither too aggressive nor too chicken-hearted. Moreover, it is notoriously, friendly, and gentle. On top of that, this breed is loyal to its people and is famous for its soulful expressions. However, Beagle takes pride as an independent dog breed, that’s why it is difficult to train it. However, consistent training is required to keep this breed under control.
All-in-all, Beagle is an affectionate, curious, and friendly dog breed. It is difficult to find an ill-tempered Beagle. That said, Beagle is famous for the deeps howls and loud voice. The best to prevent these howls is to make sure that the Beagle is getting enough physical exercises.
Beagle is perfect for apartment living, but it tends to haul, which might be a problem for the neighbors. In fact, this breed has a strong desire to vocalize and at length due to its hunting heritage. However, this quality of Beagle can be alleviated. Further, it needs a lot of exercises. Hence, it will be best to put a Beagle in a larger space.
As previously discussed, Beagle has a strong sense of smell. Thus, initially, this breed was used for tracking rabbits and hares. As a matter of fact, it is still used for tracking in many countries.
In terms of size, this dog breed is relatively small, standing at about 13-16 inches and weighing around 17-30 pounds.
Generally, the Beagle is active, full of energy, who needs no less than an hour of exercise regularly. It is best when Beagle is surrounded by other dogs, as it loves having company.
Beagle loves to play and needs daily exercise. Typically, a Beagle is full of endurance, but it doesn’t mean it is required to be worked out very hard. However, a Beagle which doesn’t get enough exercise or let alone inside or outside can become destructive.
