HELLO HOOMAN, I’M Afghan hound

I am the Afghan hound, unarguably the most elegant dog breed to walk the earth. You won’t find a dog breed like me. I have a unique appearance with a dramatic silky coat, exotic face, and thin, fashion-model build. What’s more, I am one of the oldest dog breeds, origin dating back to the pre-Christian era. Moreover, I can make it work with any family irrespective of the size.

MORE ABOUT ME

PERSONALITY AND TEMPERMANT

The Afghan hound is a strong-willed, self-confident, and affectionate dog breed that is
very good with kids and other dogs. At the same time, the Afghan hound can be
unfriendly too. Plus, it has a hunter instinct, a high prey drive, and the ability to think on
its feet. Thus, sometimes Afghan hound can be disobedient, especially when its prey
drive takes over.
In reality, the Afghan hound’s persona can range from this fiercely brave dog to lazy and
quite. On top of that, it can develop a feral disposition if not socialized properly.

CHARACTERISTICS

Generally, the Afghan hound is intelligent, playful, and not fond of barking and howling.
What makes Afghan hound unique is its ability to adapt to living alone in apartments.
Plus, it can tolerate both hot and cold weather, which makes it perfect for novice
owners. That said, it is challenging to train Afghans. Moreover, grooming this breed is
also not so straightforward, considering it sheds a lot.
The male Afghan hound can be 27 inches tall in terms of size, while the female can
stand out about 25 inches. Usually, the weight of this breed lies between 23 to 27
Kilograms.

ENERGY LEVEL

The Afghan hound is a very energetic dog and requires regular exercise; otherwise, it
can be destructive. Afghan hound doesn’t lack any stamina. Considering the Afghan’s
history of being a hunter breed, it can go for long walks, dog sports, and energetic jog.

PHYSICAL

As previously discussed, the Afghan hound is full of energy and requires regular
physical exercise. To be specific, it is advised that the Afghan hound should go for at
least two walks to burn enough calories so that it can stay calm indoors. This breed is in
no way a couch potato. Still, it is happy to relax with the family, particularly after a
tedious exercise session.
